Hurricane Katrina – Pascagoula, Mississippi - On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina’s 20-foot storm surge and 30-55 foot sea waves devastated the town of Pascagoula, Mississippi. With the media focus on New Orleans and Biloxi-Gulfport, this town of 26,000 felt neglected or even forgotten after the storm. The median annual income of Pascagoula is $32,000 and most residents did not have flood insurance. A.B.
