How to do a quick check of your sump pump

Be sure the sump pump is plugged in or turned on depending on the design. Move the cover of the sump pump.  Clear away any debris that has fallen into the tank.

Hard water is the primary reason for these common household problems:

• White scaly deposits on showers and sinks
• dishes and glasses that are covered with water spots
• having to use more shampoo or laundry detergent than you feel that you should need
