One of A.B. May’s corporate values is Stewardship which has been defined by our employees as … “Taking care of that which has been entrusted to us.  The preservation and sharing of resources at our avail.  Being responsible for the well being of others in our lives and community.”

Hurricane Katrina – Pascagoula, Mississippi  On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina’s 20-foot storm surge and 30-55 foot sea waves devastated the town of Pascagoula, Mississippi. With the media focus on New Orleans and Biloxi-Gulfport, this town of 26,000 felt neglected or even forgotten after the storm. The median annual income of Pascagoula is $32,000 and most residents did not have flood insurance. A.B. May donated materials and supplies and many of our employees and their families donated their time and skills to help rebuild Pascagoula.

Rebuilding Phoenix, Louisiana – Another area that was hard hit by Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of Hurricane Rita was a small town of 300 people 25 miles South of New Orleans named Phoenix, Louisiana. The area was under water as deep as 10 feet for over a month. Many of the families have lived in this community for several generations, dating back before the Civil War. The buildings in the town were destroyed, but the people are strong and resolute to rebuild. A.B. May and its employees continue to make frequent trips to Phoenix to help in the reconstruction.

Heat The Country - Working with Christmas in October and ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) A.B. May and its employees donated manpower and supplies to elderly and financially strapped homeowners in Kansas City. The primary focus of the Heat The Country project is safety and warmth, as well as improving the living conditions of the residents. Twelve A.B. May representatives gave up their day off to volunteer their skills to this worthy project. A.B. May donated the materials. Services provided ranged from furnace clean-and-checks to, in some cases, complete replacements. On a Saturday in October, we installed five high efficiency furnaces. (Oct 2006)

Youthfront Camp South – LaCyne, KS - Since 1943 YouthFront has engaged in innovative youth ministry, ministering to millions of young people. A.B. May donated heatpump systems and materials, and employees and families spent a pleasant Spring day installing cooling systems in 21 cabins at the camp. After the work was finished, some of the families spent time enjoying the camp facilities.
